ATLANTA, April 25, 2016 – ASPiRE (@tvASPiRE) announces the network’s special presentation of a new comedy, Mommy Uncensored: Confessions of a Real Mom. The pilot episode is directed by Terri J. Vaughn and introduces new comedic stars Charity Jordan and Rod “Reemo” Thomas. Mommy Uncensored will premiere on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016 at 8 p.m. EDT, exclusively on ASPiRE.

“I’m ecstatic that ASPiRE has greenlit our pilot. As a network, ASPiRE provides content that highlights heritage, heart, and humor — in that, we share the same values. We take pride in creating a show that the whole family can enjoy and be inspired by.”
— Charity Jordan, Executive Producer/Writer/Actress

Based on real mommy experiences, Karen—played by Charity Jordan (recently seen in Ava DuVernay’s Oscar-nominated film Selma) has an unorthodox approach to motherhood, which often puts her in hilarious situations, compelling her to share her uncensored feelings confessional-style in the one place she can find refuge, the bathroom.eblast photo

Topics like diversity and equality are dominating headlines in the film and television industries. This is a big deal for productions like Mommy Uncensored, where the show’s Creator, Executive Producer, Writer, Lead Actress and Director are all African-American women; and is produced by an African American-owned production company, ArtistDirector Media, LLC.

Actress Terri J. Vaughn, of The Steve Harvey Show and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns, moves to the Director’s chair on this project.

“I LOVE comedy!! Having the opportunity to direct a hour-hour show is my dream job – and the fact that the lead is a female, comedic actress who happens to be black makes this project special for me. It’s thought provoking, fresh and so FUNNY!!”
—Terri J. Vaughn, Director

Mommy Uncensored was a hit on the film festival circuit, previously winning Best Web Series at Hollywood Black Film Festival and BronzeLens Film Festival.

“Mommy Uncensored is the first show I’ve seen that keeps it real on parenthood and marriage. These are our lived-in stories. The show is fun, real and therapeutic comedy that can’t be seen anywhere else.” —Justin Jordan, Producer/DP
